  Folktales and Fairytales

Each tale is told through the oral tradition. Some may have songs, others sign language, and all will be fun!
 
  Anasi the Spider

West African tale—Discover the world of spiders and symbols; make Anansi hand puppets; and sculpt spiders from dough.
 
  Legend of Rainbow Crow

Native American folktale—Learn the characters in sign language; make Great Spirit circular rainbow; and sculpt a puppet of Rainbow Crow.
 
  The Gingerbread Man

Draw and color a gingerbread person; make a gingerbread person magnet; and create finger puppets of other characters.
 
  The 3 Little Pigs

Make a house using a texture of straw, sticks or bricks; draw the little pigs; and make a stick puppet of one of the pigs.

 
  Jack and the Beanstalk 

Draw Jack, the castle and the beanstalk; make a bean plant; create a bean-shaped book; and make a castle.
 
  The Fire Children

West African creation tale—Make a Fire Child puppet using clay; paint it using watercolors; and create clothes for the puppet.
 
  Old McDonald  

Learn to draw all the farm animals and barn; and make a mobile using the barn and the animals.
 
  Build a City

Learn to draw people, buildings and transportation using tracers; make buildings out of recycled materials; and create a collage using the different parts of a city.
 
  Insect Mainia

Learn different parts of bugs and draw them; draw various insects; and make a bug using clay.
